Meet the Missus - Norma Guerrero: Norma Guerrero has recently recorded her CD, My Romance, arranged and accompanied by her husband, Danny Guerrero. Norma’s musical education was in the classical vocal field. She was a three-time Metropolitan Opera Auditions Finalist, sang with the San Francisco Opera company and studied with Boris Goldovsky, Edith Piper of the Juilliard School (student of the legendary soprano, Marcella Sembrich). She was born in Minnesota where she attended Carleton College in Northfield. She sang with the Pasadena, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Companies. She attended the Juilliard School with a scholarship in Voice and Opera Theatre. After years of work as an operatic soprano, she discovered a low “torch song” voice which she uses to great effect in this CD. Her classical training serves her well and she handles the songs from the Great American Songbook with sensitivity and elegance. Danny’s accompaniments are perfectly attuned to Norma’s musical perceptions. Danny and Norma met in Denver, Colorado, where both worked at Mario’s Restaurant. They moved to Los Angeles and many years later, find themselves again working for Mario Lalli at Café 322 in Sierra Madre.
